| KANEKA-SPONSORED ‘DESIGN AGAINST FUR’ COMPETITION
PROVIDES FRESH PERSPECTIVES |
| KANEKA is proud to announce its involvement and sponsorship of
the Swiss-based Fur Free Alliance’s international poster design
competition in 2003 for art schools and art students to create a
fresh and innovative way to express the message: |
“Fur does not
belong in the 21st century and the use of fur
and fur trim should be obsolete.
The killing of animals for their fur is cruel, unnecessary
and wrong in the modern age.” |
Entries were required to consist not only of a poster design, but
also a concept for a $100,000 (US) or €100,000 (EURO) advertising
campaign – including marketing materials, T-shirts, media purchase
and other creative applications.
The competition has been held across three areas, North America,
continental Europe, and the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the
winners of each region meeting in Paris where the overall Design
Against Fur Grand Prix winner is announced. The eventual winner’s
work is represented in next year’s anti-fur advertising campaign.
KANEKA understands that by tapping tomorrow’s design talent,
the competition shows the fashion world that the balance between
social awareness and design creativity is a relevant issue amongst
youth culture, and the two elements need not be mutually exclusive.
